Speedport W 503V ENG - ITA Annex A

Hi, Ihave been trying to convert thsi SP to FB with ENG language and Annex A. With speed-to-fritz I was able to convert the box to DE Annex A with use of German 7270v1 image. As there is no official 7270v1 English firmware for modification to Eng, I used modified bi-lingual fw DE-ENG and DE-ITA but after flashing I got FritzBox web interface with missing menus and some empty pages. So I created Freetz custom 7270v1 EN image that was about 9.6MB and used it for modification as well, but I got missing menus again.

Does anyone have a clue how to solve this one?

Thanks for yours interest to aid me! I already tried that one with results of missing menus. I spoke to Lonegunman about this matter and he had similar problems with wireless and ITA translation on some FB project he conducted. He gave an nice explanation on the matter of translation in our wiki, and also gave me some clues about what to look for, so I will make the whole translation by myself using this method.

In gratitude to you guys, I will make ITA version as well. All 4 firmwares - En, Ita, Annex A and B as well as explanation of procedure and the sources used I will post back here when I finish. I am thinking to add traffic shaping as well, but I will see about it.

To view the missing menus you must insert the htmltext_de.db into the firmware, if it is missing some menus are not displayed.
The German db contain references menu.

Recuperato con un file .exe per il recupero inviatomi dal tedesco che me lo ha venduto ora monta fw annex a tutto in tedesco.
Con difficoltà sono riuscito a configurarlo.si riesce ad avere l'interfaccia almeno in inglese o sarebbe il massimo in ITA ?

Che interfaccia ha? Quella simile al fritz box?
Mandamelo, vedo di aggiungerci la lingua ita , ok?

Ho provato anche qualche fw della stessa versione eng o ITA ma si blocca il caricamento

il firmware, il recovery non mi serve.

Provali entrambi e fa sapere. Senza lo speedport a portata di mano è difficile fare firmware sicuramente funzionanti, spero lo capirai.

grazie ancora per l'aiuto ora sto ancora cercando di risolvere un problemino con la rete e appena fatto proverò i fw.

a proposito poi posso riporistinare la configurazione attuale?
ci ho messo 2 giorni a configurarlo in tedesco ma ci sono riuscito e non vorrei perdere il tutto oppure non è "indicato"su nuovo fw ?


p.s. i collegamenti che mi spiegavi nel post sparito perfetti e fatti in due minuti (trovato tra i vari filtri che avevo quello con 3 femmine rj11 e sta tutto dentro il supporto da muro del router)

Chiaramente puoi salvarti la configurazione attuale, nel menu system dovresti trovare dove poterlo fare, però ora non ricordo in tedesco quale voce sia quella giusta, cercala e imposta una password prima di salvare.

Poi fai gli aggiornamenti sperando vada tutto ok.

In genere non è fondamentale quando si reimporta nel medesimo apparecchio, ma cambiando firmware è meglio andare per il sicuro.

AVM Systemimage: Dieses Image wird verwendet, um Systemfunktionen und auch die AVM-Weboberfläche zu ergänzen. Das Image stammt von einer AVM-Hardware, die in der Funktion der Hardware ähnlich ist und die dieselbe Kernel-Version verwendet. Verwendet wurde das Image-File 'FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7270_v1.54.04.88.image'.
Kernel-Update: Der AVM Kernel wurde beibehalten .

Hi, its been a while.

Now I am working on creating 7270v1 freetz mod with English db taken from 7270v3 - which is very different in hardware but html text should be same - we will see, I will post results.

Second thing what I intend to do is to translate latest German firmware db file by hex editor so structure of file will not be changed. I am currently searching for apropriete hex editor that will allow me to create an search and replace script, so that script can be used with any fritzbox firmware countaining html db. As soon as I get positive results from this method I will need some help from you guys in ITA translation. I will post an txt file containing sentences to be translated.

This hackish aproach from above is needed because it seems that freetz mod to 503 is using Fritzbox fw as a base so result of a mod with freetz is very unstable. On the other hand speed2freetz is using t-com firmware as a base one, which as a result, produces an totaly stable and operational fw. So idea is to make an hackish gui translated 7270 image and use it as a modification firmware in speed2freetz.

This translation script will allow us to use latest German fws, which are allways more updated than int ones, with other Fritzboxes as well.

[EDIT] I forgot to anonce that I will not provide any moded fw to public as I gave my promise about it to guys who explained me this, but I will give script with instructions on how to use it.

Has anyone made custom English firmware for Speedport W503V Typ A?

I guess for someone who knows how to modify firmware -easy to made EN version from existing:
- 7170 FW with disabling ISDN extensions and disabling USB host.
- 7270 FW with disabling DECT, ISDN extensions and disabling USB host.


Does anyone have the EN FW for Speedport W503V Typ A or working on it?

Its not that easy - machine has different hardware and FW "regulations". It is the clone of 7270v1, so it has no space for multilanguage options. On other Italian forum some have tried to make dual language FW for 7270v1 (which has to be base for modification), but results ware invisible manu and meny more bugs. My propesed method is to go for direct approach of hex editing htmltext.de file and translating it to English, however I was not able to find propper way to make an script which will do "find and replace".

So anyhow, I have stopped searching for solution when T-Com presented an factory version of W503V to their branch in FYROM. This FW is very much Fritz like with English with only difference of pictures being T-Com instead of AVM. I found some owners and tried to extract its FW by killing all tasks inside except web server and mounting partitions on icon file, but due very limited space I was unable to do it correctly. In meanwhile I found some other ways to extract FW, but I cant do that procedure remotely. So on my next trip to Greece I will stop in Skopje to pick one already reserved box.

Now I need procedure for conversion, I need data from ftp access, can someone from Macedonia check this data:
