The FRITZ!Box's echo compensation and traffic shaping functions guarantee high speech quality when using Internet and landline telephony. However, if you still experience an echo, delays or short dropouts, these are caused by the telephone being used, your Internet Service provider or telephony provider and cannot be influenced by the FRITZ!Box.
If you hear the echo when using your analog landline to make telephone calls, then the signal delay on this telephone line is unusually high. This delay causes such a strong echo that the echo compensation integrated in the FRITZ!Box is unable to suppress it.
The signal delays increase if the telephone is connected to a PBX (such as the FRITZ!Box). In some cases the echo is so strong that neither the FRITZ!Box nor the telephone is capable of entirely eliminating the echo.
Therefore, you may only be able to hear the echo when the telephone is connected to the FRITZ!Box and not when it is connected directly to your landline.
